Familia!! Mas Tiempo por Escribir esta Semana

Hey famliy como estais?!

I'm doing well, played some football, totally ruled the other Elders haha funny, but now I hurt all over, my knees are gettin worse, gotta try to take care of them better.  So you had me worried cause I didn't get a letter from you guys till Saturday ... but it's ok cause I just got mom's letter right before I came to email, so it's all good.  Thanks for the Camera and figuring it all out sorry that I broke the other one, I'll take better care of the new one.  I'm writing Gma a letter today so I won't take up computer time, I'm glad that things are looking up, Grandma.  You're a tough Grandma and a great example to me.  Give Matt my congrats on his mission call, tell him he will definatly gain weight at the MTC.  Speaking of weight, so I'm at a steady 155 now, no fat ... at least I can't see any ... but the other night we ate at the Carranza's house and they always make a ton of food ... Mexicans always do ... and so I asked for a little bit of a second helping and basically got a whole more plate of food.... anywho so when I got home I weighed myself and I was at a whopping 169lbs hahahaha I've never been that heavy in my life!!!  Now I'm back down to 155 like I should be haha ... my legs are Logs ... super heavy ... probably not good for my knees.  That's awesome about Cody and Ashley, give them my congrats too ... tell Cody "Felizidades".  I'mi glad your anniversary went good, I loved the pics, it looks like you guys are happy ... and you still have that ridiculously big picture of me ... hahaha wow.  Brandon's B-day sounded fun, the big 18 ... soon to graduate and move on with life ... fun fun fun.  The new camera sounds cool, the DVC are the same quality as the Hi8 if I remember correctly ... just a ton smaller.  So Miss O'hara sent me a really cool Christian pen and bookmark ... I swear, that lady is so nice ... like one of the nicest people I have ever met, I plan on writing her back promptly, I hope she is doing well.  Stilll workin on getting to the bank for that notarary thing ... sooo hard to find time ... sorry.  Dad that's great about the gas station, I'm sure you'll get that place running ship shape in no time.  Jamie and Chris are having a baby?!  Didn't she once say that she would never have kids?  haha  That's awesome, give them a hug for me.  Yeah our Zone is still leading the mission it's awesome.  Elder Hawes and I almost beat our 30 lessons a week ... we got 27.  We are being quite blessed with lessons, just have to find a new family to teach, pray for us to find a new family if you could =]  Bishop Larsen is out then, eh?  He was a way cool guy ... just before conference ... hmmmm yup GA for sure HA cool.  Thanks for the addresses.  Sooo for this week ... this upcoming Saturday between conference sessions we are marrying and baptizing the Familia Quel!!  Right now we are only baptizing the Mom and Daughter, but the Dad and Son will soon follow, they just don't feel 100% ready yet, but they both know that the church is true.  Sooo this weekend will be super spiritual.  We continue to teach the Flores family and we have the son set for the 11 of April soooo as long as his mom doesn't object ... she might :/... he'll be baptized next weekend ... or el sabado que viene.  I met my first hard core anti-mormon yesterday while tracting ... he said that he was "raised by mormons" his dad is a mormon, and because of this he "knew everything about us"...pshh... aparently we worship Joseph Smith and hate the Bible ... quite ridiculous actually.  He contradicted himself at least 5 times throughout his "sermon" to us about how we were spreading lies and stuff ... quite silly/sad.  He pulled up alot of the stuff that alot of the people in this world don't like about us ... most of it not being true of course but still ... anywho, we also found a new family ... maybe ... hopefully ... just before we met the Anti ... so no worries.  I'm learning alot about the scriptures and am working on strengthening my testimony, something that I never have really done till now ... it's a bit hard but I'm trying my best.  que mas...... well I do know that this church is true, and that if we go to our older brother for help he can help us, he knows what we have and will go through.  Never forget that ... and if you have a doubt about anything in the church ... cause they will come ... and it's good, it makes us stronger ... get it resolved and pray about it ... we're always asking questions and are always asked questions from the ward members.  I hope that you all have a wonderful week full of fun and stuff that normal people do ;}  I hope you enjoyed the pics ... i hope you got them cause i dont' think you mentioned them.  Try to put some pics of you guys on my empty card and maybe I can print them at Walmart next week.  I love you all so very much and am very happy to have been blessed with such a good family.  Thank you all for your support.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  Philippians 4:3

All things...not just some things or church related things...all things...remember that :]

not much time

hey guys, only have like 15-20 mins cause the place is closing.  we've been super busy today cause of transfers.  lots of changes, the Zone Leaders are moving in with E Hawes and I so it will be us 4 in there ... fun fun fun.  Bad news, dropped my bag slipping it off my shoulder the other night and when I went to take a pic on Saturday I turned it on and realized that I couldn't see anything ... sooooo I think it still takes pics but I just can't see anything ... sorry probably not what you wanted to hear ... but I am glad that you like the pics I sent, I took some cool ones before it broke.  That's awesome about Erics fairwell, E Hawes has a friend named Elder Christopher Meek in that same mission.  YAY for getting the house sold!!!!  took long enough eh?  That's great about the Chevron Station.  the chevrons here are dumb though, they charge 10 cents more for using a credit or debit card ... ridiculous ... I hope that your anniversary went well and that you got my card.  and no I can't go to the dedication of that temple, I'm wayyyy too busy over here, I don't even know if it is being shown here.  And I like all the pics and news from home, I'm not homesick at all, not cause I don't love you guys, but because I'm very busy and lovin it here.  Thanks for the Cookies Grandma!!  They are good, all the elders liked them haha.  a little bit of home, when I think of Gma I think of those banana and oatmeal cookies =]  just for future reference, whenever anyone wants to send me a package, send it USPS cause otherwise it's super hard for me to get it. UPS and FED EX don't deliver it to the door, we have to go pic them up.

so not much time left, this week has been fun, lots of lessons, we taught 30 lessons this past week.  and our DL (District Leader) told us this information (not boasting, just sharing): our Zone is the leading Zone in the mission in baptisms and lessons and our District is Leading our Zone! so yay for us!  we hopefully will have the Quel's Married this coming weekend and baptized the following weekend, and then we have another family we think are closer to baptism and will be baptized this transfer.  our recent converts are doing well.  Hermano Hernandez recieved the Aaronic Priesthood last week and blessed the Sacrament this week ... very cool experience! you could tell that he was proud of himself.  he called us the night before and was like "Elders I don't have the entire prayer memorized ... is it ok if I read it?"  We laughed and said of course it was ok, because 98% of people don't have it memorized and they read it.  he's a way cool guy.  Elder Minnick (my DL) is training this transfer, so I won't be the super super verdacito ("greenie") .... just a regular verdacito!  this first transfer or cambio has gone by very fast ... it's crazy to think that only in December I was entering the MTC.

ok guys, I gotta go, tons of stuff to do and not enough time ... such are P-days ... remember that I love you all.  study the scriptures ... I found a way cool scripture this morning: 2 Nephi 33:10-11.

CHECK OUT THE PICS!

Chris sent his picture card home so I put 2 new links in the "picture" area of this blog.  Once you go to one, you can look at the different albums that are there.  He got some great pictures and although we have none of him at the airport, he has sent many more pictures with HIM in them than usual... so HAPPY DAY!  I am going to try to figure out how to load a movie... of the leaking washer event - pretty funny.  ENJOY!

Week 6...1st transfer almost done!

Hey Family!!!

My first Transfer is almost over...wow how time flys eh?  I will try and write a better letter with more "carne" in it this time.  This week was probably one of our slowest weeks (we set 2 records for lessons taught the last 2 weeks in a row =]), we had a couple of 1 or 2 lesson days and  alot of tracting ... very frusterating, but ok, the Lord has blessed us with some very strong families to teach and 4 baptisms, so we can't complain too much.  It's getting hotter here ... I hear that it gets to be 120 in the summer ... which I will be here for ... soooo yeah, not lookin' forward to that but oh well.  I will share just a little bit about our investigators so that I don't use up all of my time, cause yeah I only have about 30-40 mins total, including reading emails and such.

Brenda: she is a recent convert and is doing very well, her life is much better and she smiles a ton more!  If you wanted a definition of "fellowship" just watch how Brenda is taken care of.  Her husband is working in Texas, so she has to take care of 4 little girls who are wayy cute, they are all under the age of 6 or 7 so it's quite a handfull.  The two younger girls are just learning to talk, in Spanish of course, and they love me, so I can usually get them to repeat anything I say in Spanish ... they always say "Tu Bebe".  I have pics of them, you will smile when you see them.

Familia Hernandez, Felipe, Sofia, and Maria:  they are awesome, very strong and also recent converts.  Felipe defends the church at work and is already a great missionary, sharing the gospel with his friends and stuff, he was able to get the sacerdocio this past weekend at church, it was awesome.  Maria is a Freshman or Sophomore and she is always smiling when we come over to teach.  Sofia was wayyyy timid and shy when we first came over, but she loves us now and she reads and comments and everything now!

Familia Quel:  this family is the kind of family that you never hear about cause they are so rare!  They do their reading and ask really hard questions and love and believe it all!  They had a question about poligamy and what it was and why and stuff, so we taught a lessson about it ... like they understood it and everything ... wayyyy cool.  Oh and funny story, so we just figured out that they weren't married ... it's quite common in the Mexican culture ... so we're working to solve that right now, but what is funny is that they said that they told me a long time ago ... and I guess I didn't understand (Elder Hawes must have been teaching the kids, otherwise he would have caught it) ... I probably said "Esta Bien"... so we all got a big laugh out of that.

Familia Florez:  these guys are cool, identical twins and a freshman named Bobby and a Father named Luiz.  They are cool and understand and accept pretty much everything, Luiz just works sooooo much, he works from like 6 in the morning to 7 at night every day minus Sunday, so it's hard to teach them, hoping to set them with a fecha bautizmal soon.

and thats all our really solid investigators, we are hoping to find another family to teach soon.

Our number of set appts is going down a bit cause all our investigators are getting baptized ... haha ... so it's a good thing and a bad thing ... just means more tracting and stuff to find more investigators.  We have 1000 miles a month, and since our area is huge (we cover a half of a Stake cause we're Spanish and there are only 4 Spanish missionaries for the South Bakersfield Stake) so we try to drive as little as we can, we walk alot.  But i will most likely go into a Spanish biking area some time in my mission says my companion, there are a lot fewer Spanish biking areas I guess.

I'm trying to write everything down that I want to write in my email, I'll try to do better throughout the week writing stuff down ... cause my mind is really suffering here haha can't remember nothin'!  i thought that I said thanks for the tie chain in my last letter cause it is written down on my "stuff of things to write to my family list" ... but maybe I didn't ... but I did get it, thank you so much mother =]  I love it and am wearing it now =].  And I have written Gma M and thanked her for the cookies, no worries.  I will respond to Margo today, I remember mom and I talking about her now.  The mission board looks super cool ... minus my gigantic head ... I already look funny enough ... I hope you fixed all my inperfections on your mac mother ;}.  hahaha you used my awesome pic for Sociedad de socorro?!  cool!  I'm famous! haha it really is a cool pic. I took another wayyyy cool one of a sunset here too!  The smog and air quality is sooo nasty here that the sun sets are wayyy colorful!  I have taken a bunch of pics, I'll try to get some of me today (Elder Hawes gave me a hair-cut haha) and send the card home on priority mail on Tuesday, so get ready for some cool pics and a video of our wonderful "washer-overflowing-carpetwave experiance of a life time".  The Mormon Adds idea sounds way cool, I like the one about putting Jesus in your photo album haha and to be honest, or as the Mexicans say it "para que les voy a mentir?"  (why would I lie to you) I  don't remember the "Leap of Faith" one, but it rings a bell somewhere deep back in my mind of before the mission ... just can't quite recall it ... but mom, I'm sure that anything you come up with will be just fine.  How bout you get an idea from all the kids and from you and from dad?  Then make 7 and send em to me, and then if I think of any I'll write ya and tell ya.  "El campo blanco esta ya para la siega..." (with an accent on the a in esta).  That is the field is white and already to harvest.  if you want anything else translated ask me in an email or just ask Cody.  Honestly, I'm surprised that I haven't gotten sick or anything over the food here, not that it's not good, but it's usually very tomato-y and very spicy ... I've been tricked into eating a few extremely hot items ... but I've never been sick ... I think my Heavenly Father is blessing me with health cause I feel great all the time ... minus being super tired and having my feet hurt ... but those are good things cause that means I'm workin.  And yes Mexican people are some of the nicest people around ... it's a good thing and a bad thing cause people will invite you in for a lesson just to be nice and then they aren't really intrested at all ... so it's good and bad.  But we never go unfed, I eat a ton!  I've lost all the 10 lbs of "bleh" I gained in the MTC and gained back 10 lbs of Muscle, so I'm pretty much in the best health of my life hahaha, I'm never being lazy again!  haha it feels good to feel good and energized haha.  Dad I'm gonna try to get that driver thing to you some time this week, it's just hard to find time cause lines at banks are always long ... do I just go up to the teller and ask or is it somewhere else?  I had no idea that banks had notaries ... oh well.  Ohh I ate some prickly pear the other day ... in was quite interesting ... kinda bland ... like guacamole ... very gooy.  Ahhh Jean wrote me today!  I was like "I Got A letter From Australia!" and my comp was like "What?!" haha ... problem is that I can't read the return address and it's rather long ... soooooo could you please send me her address so I can write her back?  thanks =]

I miss you all a bunch and hope that the house is still selling, dad is getting a job and that you all are doing well in the things that you do.  You are all in my prayers.  Remember that the gospel is true, you guys should teach FHE out of Preach My Gospel ... it's awesome!!!  I'm studying "El Plan De Salvacion" this month, it's quite amazing to really think about why we are here on this life ... what we're working for, what our ultimate goal is, as well as what happened before this life.  They make ya think quite alot if you really put some time and effort into thinking about them.  The plan is one of the hardest lessons to teach, but it is probably the most accepted.  It's a perfect plan and I know that it is true.  It helps us to know how much our Father in Heaven loves us to know that he created all this ... our whole existence ... just so we could be learn and progress and be happy ... he must be pretty sad when after all he has done for us, so many of his children don't do what is best for them ....

ok love you all!  hasta la proxima semana =]

I'M 3 MONTHS OLD TODAY!!! todavia un verdacito

Hey Guys!!!

lots of stuff to do today haha.  I biked 9 miles this morning at 6:30 and next week i'm gonna run it with the other elders.  i biked it cause one of the other elders was a bit sick so he didn't want to run.  so the house sounds like its doing pretty good ... i can't believe that they noticed the ceiling thing ... i don't even notice it.  oh well i'm sure that it will be ok.  mom, we're the same, i shop with coupons too! haha we shop at VONS and we use coupons and stuff ... it's quite funny to watch us shop.  mom i hope you had fun with lanae at the Family History Center, i'm sure you did ... probably like setting a kid loose in a candy store haha =]  sooo you want to know about baptisms eh?  sorry, ok well we've had 2 so far.  Brenda was the second week i was here and we baptized a family of 3 this weekend.  we have the baptisms at the stake center and it's cool.  i gave a talk on baptism at the one this past weekend.  it's all in spanish.  the missionaries pretty much do all the preparing, like filling up the font ... which takes forever ... and making sure it's not cold and not hot but just right ... and setting up chairs and printing programs and stuff ... it's alot of work, but it's fun and very rewarding.  this family we baptized this past weekend is wayyy solid.  We played baseball as a zone this morning with a few members ... wayyy fun ... although i'm pretty sure that any sport that deals with hand eye coordination i stink at ... but it was still fun.

Brandon: Jordan Goonan died???  I just saw him at the MTC ... wow ... Plan of Salvation is pretty awesome ... if ya think about it, it's why i'm out here and it's why we're all here ... it's basically everything.  Graduation is comin up ... wow ... have fun, you'll never get to be in high school again ... graduating is fun =]  thanks for the pic of Kelsey (whoever sent it ... probably mom =]) it's crazy cause i remember her from when i was at North Cache haha wierd!!!

Taylor:  como estas mi chei?  tu pieses que porque tu sabes french que estas mas suave que alguien quien sabe espanol.  and yes Mrs. Seeley is quite a crazy lady, very smart and a good teacher usually ... but totally wack ... ask Brent what he and I did for Earth Day for her haha.  and thanks for the Washer Dryer comments ... warms my heart haha.

Jordan:  Tons of Chihuahuas over here ... lots of mixes.  want to boot all of them ... all you have to do is stare at them real hard and they run away haha - wimp of a dog.  scouts is awesome ... wow you'll have your eagle in no time!  you can continue to write in cursive ... i need the practice reading it.  and i hope the cell phone still works haha i dropped a thing of toilet paper in the toilet here once...

Dora:  I'll take lots of pics and send them home soon for you all.  yes i usually make my own food for breakfast and lunch and we usually have a dinner with a family ... i'm eating sooo much here ... sooooo much, it's my reputation that i eat alot ... it's weird i know.  you dropped your claninet?! wow, i'm sorry, is it fixable?  you're a facebook celebrity now eh?  be nice to your teachers, it's only through them that you will learn.  tell Connor that Trumpet will make him way cool!  Trumpet kills any other instrument!  mi nombre en espanol es Cristobal.  and you'd better get used to school cause you have a while to go haha ... learn alot, you will want knowledge later i promise.

Derek:  Playin Piano in the talent show eh?  thats awesome!  keep practicing so you can get super good.  I don't know if i'll have time to write an entire letter in spanish, if i get time i'll send you one ok?  i'm learning alot more as the weeks fly by.

Grandma:  Mondays come by way fast for me, time is flying.  yeah i confirmed Brenda Santillan in spanish ... i was scared but i got through it and she recieved the holy ghost.  we are being blessed with alot of blessings.  we had almost all of our investigators show up to church on time ... in the spanish culture it's not unusual for people to show up 30 or 40 mins late to everything.  i get along with my comp just fine, he's an awesome missionary who is obedient and neat and clean.  he's a very good leader but has never trained before, he's just barely a year out on his mission.  we prepare our meals minus dinner cause we usually have members feed us ... mexicans like to eat.  that's cool about Carter, he'll keep you on your toes haha.  there are tons of kids in our ward ... tons ... sacrament meeting is quite loud.  Alma and Amulek are quite a good example for me, they did some crazy stuff and were very powerful missionaries, i have used them a few times in lessons as well as the sons of Mosiah.

ok, my companion is waiting for me, i hope this was sufficient, ask questions and i will answer them.  i hope you all have a good week and that you all continue to be blessed. stay strong with scripture study and prayers ... it's a big difference when our investigators pray ... it's the first thing we ask them to do ... such a small and simple thing that can make such a big difference in peoples lives.

K, till next week =]

cartas cartas cartas

Hey guys!

So I finally figured out what I live in, i read the sign, it's "Apartment Houses" haha yay i'm at peace now.  so the Draper Temple sounds and looks cool, very pretty inside, but yes i agree i would think that SA Temple is more pretty...thanks so much for the pictures, you all look more or less the same haha.  sooo i should be here in the same area and everything for about six months, so don't count on my address changing soon.  HAHA my comp laughed when he saw the pics of the apartments haha, i'll send them back with where i live.  and as for the driving thing, i haven't had the chance to get to a bank yet, i'll try today, we should have time.

sooooo FUnny story:

So i found the dang lint screen...nasty...looked like a cotton ball massacure haha  so that is all good and fixed now...buttt saturday night we came home and started walkin back to our room to plan and as we passed the washer...squish squish...carpet completely soaked through....the dang washer forgot how to drain right and overflowed! soooo the whole carpet of the hall and some into our room is alllllll wet...so the manager of the apts had some guy come and suck all the water up and then to dry the pad out he stuck two big fans underneath the carpet...so the carpet is now off the pad with air drying the pad and the carpet...needless to say it is loud and it smells something like i would imagine a dead or dying or extremely wet dog to smell like....i took a video, it's quite hillarious.

anywho, sooo First of all

Brandon: No one told me you had a job? Que Paso?  where do you work, what do you do, and how much does it pay?  leap frog across the intersection sounds like something you would do, quite crazy and fun.  touching dogs and goats...i've seen plenty of those...more dogs than goats though.  and you now look like the Ryan kid off of High School Musical???

Taylor: only writing me to get a cupcake eh?  thanks for the love bro, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside haha.   yeah i like my area alot, it's way cool, very big so i'm gratefull that i have a car...it's a gas hog though.  no i didn't get the chance to seen the 2010 mustang, send me a pic of your most favorite one.  so a rumor is that the church was going to sign a deal with BMW...but then they didnt' cause of how it would look...all the missionaries having BMW's hahah...this mission has Toyota Corolas, Mazda 3's and Chevy Malibu's...various years i think...but ours is a 2009, i'll send pics.

Jordan: i'm going to go blind trying to read your cursive haha.  that lady sounds way cool, kinda like the griffen sisters maybe...i dunno.  you dropped the cell phone in the toilet??  bien hecho mi hermano....haha.  keep writing, you're awesome, i hope that all the questions you asked in your letter were answered in my previous email.

Kenidee: I haven't baptized anyone yet, but yesterday i confirmed Brenda in spanish and was scared out of my mind...i went in fasting and came out calm and hungry...i think i was able to do a pretty good job with some heavenly help of course.  Don't let Jordan have the cell phone around any bodies of water.  soooo johnny-poo is comin up in march eh?  tell them to write me, i want to hear from them.  give all 12 of them hugs for me.

Derek: Good Cursive kiddo, i can read yours, probably cause you wrote it big haha.  Sooo what does bakersfield look like?  it's kinda ghetto-y in some places but it's a nice place.  have dad show you on the comp, i'll take some pics so you can see.  iceskating sounds like lots of fun!  keep going and get good at it, maybe Jon could take you and show you how to do some cool stuff.

Mom: I have my ups and downs, i usually just share the ups though, much more happy that way...The BYU thingy sounded way cool, i'm jealous.  that's awesome about scripture study, make the kids get up on time, if i have to, so do they haha.  Chocolate covered icecream on a stick????  it rains here every now and then, not too often though.  Thanks so much for the talks and candy, they're both sweet!  the tie thing is tan bonicimo!  America is so smart haha quite a nifty little invention.  if you could find a silver tie chain i would like one yes.  and as for the 100's of wonderful dogs we encounter every week i usually just yell at them in spanish...it's much more fun and very productive haha.  "Quieres conocer mi pie Perrito?!"

Dad: i'll get the bank thing to ya soon.  haha the pics were way funny haha, thats great about updating the Ward site, have fun with that, put some secret link or funny thing on there haha.  soooo any new job leads?  and the offer on the house is better than nothing, it needs to be sold already.

k guys gotta go, i'll write ya a letter with some of our investigators today.  i think i should have time. only 2 letters to write today!! yay!

have a great week and keep with the scripture study, you can learn more than you think!  duh hahaha

Hasta Luego!
